Scott Stallings might’ve been part of the worst mixup ever as his invite to The Masters was sent to the wrong person — but someone with the same name.

You have to imagine that PGA Tour veteran Scott Stallings had been eagerly awaiting his invitation to Augusta National Golf Club on April 6-9 to play in 2023’s playing of The Masters. After all, he hasn’t qualified since 2014 when he missed the cut but finally punched his ticket back after qualifying for the 2022 TOUR Championship.

Only it hadn’t come as of Monday morning. But it turns out, there was good reason for that. Augusta National had indeed sent an invitation to Scott Stallings, married to Jennifer Stallings and living in Georgia. The problem? They had sent it to the wrong one.

Stallings shared on Twitter that he received a DM from a man sharing his name who also lives in Georgia and has a wife of the same name who had wrongly been sent the invitation to play in The Masters.

Truly one of the wildest mixups you’ll ever see.

Scott Stallings sees invite to The Masters sent to wrong person with that name

In all honesty, the “wrong” Stallings in this instance was a good Samaritan. There’s no shortage of people who would’ve taken the invite — especially since he had the right name — and tried to become the first random person to make their way into the field at The Masters.

Instead, he reached out to the PGA Tour veteran and even posted confirmation that he was sending it to the proper recipient later on Monday.

As for the real Scott Stallings with his invitation to Augusta now on the right path for delivery, he’ll be making his third start in the first major of the season for his career where he missed the cut in 2014 and finished T27 back in 2012.

If nothing else, he’s got one hell of a story in the lead-up to his return after just shy of a decade.
