Lamar Jackson Dark Horse No. 2: Seattle Seahawks
As long as Pete Carroll and his young self are running the show, the Pacific Northwest will stick to their ideologies. That said, a hungry quarterback is required. This year, Geno Smith has done his best Tommy Maddox impersonation by providing a jolt for the Seahawks since the departure of Russell Wilson to Denver. But Smith is not the long-term answer.
Armed with two first-round picks, the Seahawks have ammunition on their side to be able to add Jackson to the fold, but general manager John Schneider has always been about building through the draft. Don’t be surprised if Seattle jumps into the mix and makes their significant investment in Jackson through draft picks and a new contract.
The NFC West has been San Francisco’s playground this year, the Rams are still paying off a debt from their all-in approach, and Arizona is going nowhere. Seattle can take advantage of that by going after Jackson and sending a statement to the division that they are still in the mix.
