The Texas A&M vs. Florida men’s basketball game was delayed after the Aggies’ jerseys were left back at the team hotel.

The Texas A&M Aggies and Florida Gators were scheduled to face off on Wednesday night. The game was unable to begin on time due to a delay for an interesting reason.

As it turns out, the Aggies men’s basketball team’s jerseys were left at the team’s hotel. A member of the team’s staff had to run back to the hotel to grab the jerseys and head back to Exactech Arena at Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

The referees assessed a delay of game penalty to the Aggies and awarded the Gators one free throw attempt. Will Richard made the shot from the charity stripe and gave the Gators a 1-0 lead.

Texas A&M men’s basketball team forgets jerseys for game vs. Florida

Aggies head coach Buzz Williams said that he had the jerseys hung up in his hotel room and forgot to put them on the bus.

“I forgot the jerseys in my hotel,” Texas A&M coach Buzz Williams said, via USA Today. “That’s probably the right way to say it because I used to be a manager and if that would have happened, my head coach would have stuck up for me.

“You don’t want the jerseys to get wrinkled and so I hang them in my room and then I just forgot to put them on the bus. Our players were the ones that recognized it because they warm up without their jerseys so they don’t get sweaty so it’s my fault, it won’t happen again, and I apologized to coach.”

Even though the Aggies forgot their jerseys, it didn’t impact their play on Wednesday night. That’s because Texas A&M won 99-93. It was the Aggies’ third straight win.

The Aggies had three leading scorers in Tyrece Radford (6-of-13), Wade Taylor IV (6-of-15), and Julius Marble (8-of-14), all of whom scored 17 points.

As for Florida, they were led by Trey Bonham, who scored 21 points (8-of-13), five rebounds, two assists and one steal in 32 minutes played.

If you thought you’ve seen it all, the Texas A&M and Florida game provided something most fans have never seen before — a team being given one free throw attempt before tipoff due to the other team forgetting their jerseys and delaying the game.
