NFL Twitter in awe over wild Titans play that almost worked (Video)

The Tennessee Titans nearly pulled off a disastrous play against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and it somehow almost worked.
On the Saturday slate of Week 18 games, the Kansas City Chiefs showed off their snow globe huddle at the expense of the Las Vegas Raiders. It seems as though Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel watched that before his game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and decided to pull out a trick play deep from the playbook.
In the first quarter against the rival Jacksonville Jaguars, the Titans pulled off one of the most baffling plays you will ever see.
Quarterback Joshua Dobbs completed a pass to rookie wide receiver Treylon Burks in the middle of the field. With the Titans needing 15 yards for a first down, Burks heaved the football over his head as he was tackled to the ground. Surprisingly, the football landed in the hands of the running back Jonathan Ward, who nearly got the first down.
While the viewing audience was in awe that this almost worked. Well, by almost worked, we mean didn’t result in a disastrous turnover. This play ultimately never would have counted, as Burks was called for an illegal forward pass.
Even so, NFL Twitter users couldn’t help but send out their feelings about that puzzling play.

If there was one positive about this, Burks’ throw didn’t end up in the hands of the opposing team. It gave NFL fans flashbacks to New England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers trying to throw a lateral pass to quarterback Mac Jones, only for it to become a fumble recovery for a touchdown by the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Titans ended up getting three points at the end of the drive on a 51-yard field goal by Randy Bullock.
Luck continued to be on Tennessee’s side, as they were able to recover a fumble made by the Jaguars on an attempted trick play. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence tried to flick the football over to either Christian Kirk or Jamal Agnew, but it was the latter who tipped it into the air, allowing the Titans to recover it.
The Titans responded with a 21-yard touchdown pass by Dobbs to tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo to extend their lead to 10-0.
In the first half, the Titans and Jaguars did literally everything they could to win the AFC South title on Saturday. That includes some surreal trick plays that ultimately didn’t work.
