Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin remains in the hospital after going into cardiac arrest on Monday Night Football. Still, he’s watching his teammates play their Week 18 contest against the Patriots.

Damar Hamlin is watching his team’s Week 18 game against the Patriots from the hospital, and appears to be live tweeting the contest. Hamlin’s condition has steadily improved after he went into cardiac arrest on the field during Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The game itself became an afterthought in relation to Hamlin’s health, and was eventually canceled by the NFL. While that’s made a potential battle for homefield advantage in the AFC more complicated, it’s tough to think about matters at this time.

Buffalo has a chance to enhance their positioning in the AFC and knock out the New England Patriots on Sunday. Their Week 18 game started with a bang.

As Jim Nance mentioned, that start was storybook-worthy.

Sometimes, it’s easy to believe in the divine.

Buffalo returning an opening kickoff just days after one of their own was taken to the hospital in arguably the scariest injury in NFL history is enough to bring tears to your eyes. Hamlin himself even tweeted about it.

Hamlin, who also tweeted out that he is watching the game from his hospital bed, is awake and aware with full brain capacity despite receiving nearly 10 minutes of CPR on the field a few days ago. Buffalo’s latest update on Hamlin was the most positive yet:

“Per the physicians at UC Medical Center, Damar is making continued progress in his recovery yet remains in critical condition. He continues to breathe on his own and his neurological function is excellent.”

We can only hope Hamlin’s condition continues to improve in the weeks to come.
