Baffling Rasul Douglas penalty leaves Packers fans in shambles
The Packers took a slim lead into halftime over the Lions but not before Rasul Douglas committed one of the most bizarre penalties ever to baffle fans.
The Seattle Seahawks notching an overtime victory on Sunday afternoon over the Rams set the stage for Sunday Night Football between the rival Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions. With a win, Aaron Rodgers and the Pack would be playoff-bound after a remarkable turnaround, but Dan Campbell’s team, though eliminated from the postseason, was hoping to play spoiler.
High stakes did not translate to points in the first half, though, as both teams failed to find the end zone. In the final seconds of the second quarter, however, the Lions were lining up for a last-second field goal to try and cut their deficit to three. That’s when Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas got his name buzzing.
Unfortunately, it was buzzing because he committed one of the most head-scratching penalties you’ll ever see.
As the Lions prepared for the snap on the field goal, Douglas walked right up to the line of scrimmage, approached the center and seemingly tried to knock the ball out of his hands or maybe even take a swing at someone — and we have zero clue as to what he was doing or thinking in this moment.

Rasul Douglas commits mind-numbing penalty and Packers fans lose it
If you’re thinking that you’ve never seen anything like that, you’re not alone. And Packers fans, along with NFL fans at large, could barely handle the truly bizarre play from Douglas.
Yes, that gave the Lions a much more makeable field goal as the aftermath led to a 15-yard penalty and a chip shot. The good news for the Packers is it didn’t cost them more as Green Bay still held the lead.
With a playoff spot hanging in the balance, though, that is a truly wild penalty to be taking.
