While everyone is wondering about Aaron Rodgers and his future with the Packers, wide receiver Allen Lazard didn’t leave any doubt about his plans.

When the Detroit Lions winning in Lambeau on Sunday night ended the season for the Green Bay Packers, the talk immediately switched to the future of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Had he just played his last game for the team that drafted him? Will he outright retire?

To be sure, we have no more clarity two days after the conclusion of that game than we did then. However, one of Rodgers’ weapons from this disappointing season in Green Bay made sure everyone knew about his plans for the 2023 offseason.

Speaking to reporters, wide receiver Allen Lazard was asked about Rodgers’ future and potentially playing his last game with the quarterback. Lazard offered nothing there, but made it clear multiple times in his response that he would not be returning to the Packers as he’s set to become a free agent this offseason.

Allen Lazard makes it clear he’s done with the Packers

Ironically, Lazard caught the lone touchdown pass of the game in what could’ve been Rodgers’ last contest in Green Bay. However, he finished the year with a lackluster showing in what was expected to be an increased role after Davante Adams’ departure, catching 60 balls for 788 yards and six touchdowns.

Lazard was a restricted free agent in the 2022 offseason and attempted to hold out for more money. That was ultimately unsuccessful and he ended up back with the Packers on a one-year deal worth just shy of $4 million. Now he’ll be on the open market, at least by the way he sees it now, which he had no problem telling everyone.

For Green Bay, though, that might not be all bad news. Lazard looked disinterested much of the season and, on a larger scale, the wide receiver corps needs an overhaul whether Rodgers sticks around or not. This will definitely be a mutual split between Lazard and the Packers, though, as the 27-year-old receiver seems more than done with his time playing for the green and gold.
