There is a betting favorite to become the next head coach of the Denver Broncos, and it’s not Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh.

We have approached another NFL coaching carousel where Jim Harbaugh is once again a potential candidate.

Last year, he interviewed with the Minnesota Vikings but opted to return to Michigan to coach the Wolverines football program.

This time around, Harbaugh is reportedly willing to make the jump back into the NFL if he receives an offer. One team that Harbaugh has recently interviewed with was the Denver Broncos.

While bringing in Harbaugh would be a huge move for the Broncos, he’s not considered a favorite, according to Draft Kings sportsbook. Their favorite to become the next head coach for Denver is Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

Quinn is no stranger to the Broncos, as he interviewed with them last year, and seemed like a legitimate option for them. They opted to go with then-Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to be their head coach. Quinn then informed other interested teams that he would be returning to the Cowboys for the 2022 season.

Of course, the Broncos fired Hackett after 15 games as the team went 4-11 on the year, quarterback Russell Wilson underperformed in the offense, and they suffered a 51-14 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas.

Quinn had success as a head coach. He was hired to be the sideline boss for the Atlanta Falcons in 2015 and took the team to the Super Bowl in just his second season with the team. That was notably Super Bowl 51, where they blew a 28-3 lead and lost to the New England Patriots. Quinn was fired five games into the 2020 season.

During his time with the Falcons, Quinn compiled a 43-42 record in the regular season and a 3-2 record in the playoffs.

Quinn was credited for helping turn Dallas’ defense around last season, which in turn helped them make the playoffs. This season, the Cowboys have allowed 330.2 offensive yards (12th in NFL) and 20.1 points (tied-fifth).

The Broncos officially requested permission to interview Quinn on Monday.

Besides Quinn and Harbaugh, the Broncos have also requested to interview former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, but can only do so in person on Jan. 17 at the earliest.
