These five teams should already gear up to get involved in the Manny Machado rumors coming next offseason.

It’s not too soon for Manny Machado rumors. With this offseason’s star free agents off the table, some clubs are already dreaming about next offseason. Machado is one of the potential monster free agents to hit the open market. When he does, we’ll have a little bit of history repeated.

Machado and Bryce Harper were the two big names everyone was talking about between the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Machado ended up on the San Diego Padres where he has been as advertised. He was a runner-up in the MVP race last year. What does he have in store for the Padres this season?

Manny Machado rumors about him using the opt out in his contract after the 2023 season have teams on high alert. Already, these five teams should start dreaming about signing him.

5. Manny Machado rumors: The Mets have their Carlos Correa backup plan

The Carlos Correa saga with the New York Mets dragged on through the holidays and into the New Year. Holiday decorations were put up and taken down between the time it took him to go from the San Francisco Giants to the Mets and finally to the Minnesota Twins.

In vengeful fashion, we should expect the Mets to be one of the more aggressive teams to get involved in next winter’s Manny Machado rumors.

Their third base situation isn’t too dire at the moment. Veteran Eduardo Escobar and their second best prospect Brett Baty will man the position in 2023. Escobar does have a team option for 2024. Baty could be more of a left fielder than third baseman for New York.

The Mets have become the team everyone expects to pay big bucks to free agent stars. Machado is no exception. We saw them sneakily pursue Correa in the middle of the night this offseason. Next winter, we already know they’ll have an interest in Machado.
