Scouting Report. Alabama. Jordan Battle. 49. Pick Analysis. S. 3. player

Jordan Battle is a versatile safety at No. 78 who will help the Packers

It happened quickly, but the safety depth in Green Bay has become a bit of an issue. Darnell Savage and Adrian Amos have manned the two starting spots but, with some problems sporadically among that pair and the lack of help behind them, they need somebody to come in.

Jordan Battle might be the perfect player to spark that unit. An absolute leader at Alabama, Battle was a general for the defense and has a ton of versatility. While he can be limited in man coverage, he’s a good overall pass defender, particularly in closing space to make plays, and is even better against the run because of that ability. He’s also a sure tackler at all levels.

Given all he can do, Battle would be a perfect fit and getting him in the third round would be a blessing for the Packers front office.

Scouting Report. Blake Freeland. player. 49. Pick Analysis. OT. BYU. 4

Packers need OT depth and Blake Freeland would be unreal value at No. 115

Another question mark about the future is David Bakhtiari, who has been ravaged by injuries in recent years. Because of that, the team could look to add another mid-round offensive lineman to the mix, despite hitting already on guys like Zach Tom and others. But with Blake Freeland in the fourth round, that’s hard to pass up.

The 6-foot-8, 310-pounder’s frame does limit him at times with his leverage and has seemingly affected his footwork. That being said, he uses his size and frame well and can be a people-mover in the rushing attack. Freeland is also a High-IQ player as a bookend who can use his smarts to win reps.

He will require some development but Freeland should definitely be a project that can help the Pack sooner than later.
