Jim Harbaugh could be top of the Broncos coaching candidate list

The last two weeks have been disastrous for Michigan football, including the possibility of Jim Harbaugh leaving college football to return to the NFL.
Jim Harbaugh has transformed Michigan into the Big Ten’s East kingpin for the last few years. Capped off by back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances, including consecutive victories against Ohio State, all that is missing from Harbaugh’s chapter in Ann Arbor is a national title.
Although Harbaugh has commented that he is committed to restoring the Wolverines to the greatness of yesteryear, news has begun to swirl that the ex-San Francisco 49ers head coach is looking to make a return to the pros in 2023, according to a report from ESPN about potential coaching vacancies.
A possible destination is in Denver as the head coach of the Broncos, who have been in free-fall mode since winning the Super Bowl in 2016 against Carolina in Peyton Manning’s final NFL start.
While at Michigan, Harbaugh rebuilt a program that had not had sustained success in several decades. This included top-50 recruiting classes and acquiring some of the nation’s best players. Including J.J. McCarthy, Cade McNamara, Blake Corum, and Rashan Gary.
Through a slow process, the Wolverines began to dominate the Big Ten, as they finally broke a losing streak against Michigan State and took down Penn State when it mattered most. It all culminated in 2021, as Michigan clinched a College Football Playoff berth for the first time in school history.
What would Jim Harbaugh bring to the Denver Broncos?
The Broncos hiring Harbaugh would bring stability to a historic franchise with a lot of success. During Harbaugh’s tenure, he led the 49ers to three-straight NFC Championship game appearances after a decade of missing the playoffs entirely.
If Harbaugh can fix the quarterback position and work through free agency to rebuild the roster, the AFC West could get a lot more interesting in the years to come.
For now, though, only time will tell.
