For the first time since the infamous boat incident, the New York Giants are back in the playoffs.

New York has such a proud and tradition-laden football history, but the G-Men have been pretty much hot garbage for the better part of a decade now. The good news is Brian Daboll has finally taken out the trash. He has brought with him all of that Buffalo Bills goodness down from Orchard Park. Win or lose, the Giants clearly have the right man to lead them going forward in Daboll now.

So with that in mind, when was the last time the Giants actually won a playoff game?

We have to go back to a time and a place where Tom Coughlin screamed himself … Tom Coughlin purple. New York last won a playoff game by beating the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI to finish off the 2011 NFL season with a bang, 21-17. New York defeated the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers and Patriots to secure their most recent Lombardi Trophy.

But since that magical run to capture a second Super Bowl in five seasons, the Giants have made the playoffs only twice: The 2016 NFL season under Ben McAdoo mired by Odell Beckham Jr. boating shenanigans and the 2022 NFL season under Brian Daboll. Both guys were first-time head coaches. McAdoo did not even make it through his second season at the helm for the Giants.

No matter what happens in Minneapolis vs. the No. 3-seeded Vikings, this was a miraculous turnaround for the G-Men nonetheless. They played in arguably the toughest division in football and ended a half-decade playoff drought marred by perpetual coaching staff and front office nonsense. In short, the Giants are back to being the Giants, which is only a good thing for the NFL.

The last time the Giants played in the NFC Divisional Round, they went on to win the Super Bowl.
