Here’s what Tom Brady said about a potential retirement after being eliminated from the postseason by the Dallas Cowboys on Monday.

Well, the rocky season for Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is over after a 31-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football’s presentation of Super Wild Card weekend.

The Cowboys were in control the whole night, and the Bucs proved the NFC South was indisputably the worst division in all of football.

Brady, a free agent this year, has decisions to make. He briefly decided to retire last year and ultimately felt that choice wasn’t the right one, opting to come back for at least one more year. But will there be more?

That’s the question everyone is dying to know the answer to.

Here’s what Tom Brady said about retirement, his future after loss to Cowboys

Brady said at this point he’s undecided about his future and that he’ll take things one day at a time.

"“I’m gonna go home and get a good night’s sleep. As good as I can tonight …. “This has been a lot of focus on this game, so, yeah. It’ll just be one day at a time, truly.”"

Worth noting, though, was that Brady went out of his way to give a thoughtful thank-you to the media in attendance, in particular the beat reporters in Tampa.

Via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times:

"“Just feels like the end of the season,” he said. “I just want to say thank you guys for everything you did. I really appreciate all your effort. I know it’s hard for you guys, too. It’s hard for players to make it through and you guys got a tough job and I appreciate all you guys do to cover us and everyone who watches are big fans of the sport and were very grateful for everyone’s support. …“I love this organization, it’s a great place to be and thank you everybody for welcoming me. All you regulars. Just very grateful for the respect and I hope I gave the same thing back to you.”"

That could be a simple end-of-season speech, but Stroud described it as, “unusual.” Stroud, like other beat reporters in the area, would know how Brady has approached his media availability best. Considering we’ve done the retirement rodeo once already, Stroud has been through an end-of-season talk last year, too.

What’s next for Brady? At this point, your guess might be as good as his.
