Predicting the best free agent the New York Jets will sign: Jimmy Garoppolo, QB

This one feels almost too easy. The New York Jets had one heck of a conundrum at quarterback this past year. After taking Zach Wilson second overall in 2021, the Jets watched their young quarterback struggle mightily as a sophomore.

He didn’t just struggle on the field, but also when it came to keeping his teammates’ trust in the locker room. Head coach Robert Saleh seemed to try and keep his support for the long-term status of Wilson in New York, but at the tail end of the season, reports started to trickle out about the Jets moving on from him in the offseason.

New York is a team that, in many ways, is ready to win right now. They just need a quarterback. What better free agency acquisition to make than a guy who’s familiar with Saleh, having ties to San Francisco?

Jimmy Garoppolo comes to the 49ers as a calming, veteran presence under center and gives them a legitimate chance of making the playoffs in 2023 after falling short in 2022. Reuniting with Saleh and having a young core of weapons, Garoppolo looks like the perfect addition in New York.
