Predicting the best free agent the Carolina Panthers will sign: Mike Gesicki, TE

The Carolina Panthers have a whole lot of needs going into the offseason, with the primary one being at quarterback. But, let’s assume they are one of the teams who make a big move on draft day to go up and grab a top quarterback prospect. In free agency, then, they need to find that offense a true threat at tight end.

Carolina already has a legit number one receiver in DJ Moore, and could probably use one more prominent wideout. But, adding a tight end like Mike Gesicki would allow their quarterback to have another dimension opened up.

Since the days of Greg Olsen, the Panthers haven’t had a real threat at this position. At the moment, they have guys like Tommy Tremble and Ian Thomas as their top two. But, Gesicki gives Carolina a legitimate option in the passing game with receiver-like skills.

Most would argue the Dolphins didn’t use him to his fullest extent in his first five seasons. Gesicki tallied 231 receptions for 2,617 yards and 18 scores, never having more than six touchdowns in an entire season. The 6-foot-6 Gesicki is in line to cash in this offseason, and Carolina could use a talent like his.
