A Tom Brady and Sean Payton team-up? One insider seems to think it’s possible.

Last year, the Miami Dolphins found themselves in hot water after the Tom Brady, Sean Payton situation came to light. It ended up costing the Dolphins dearly, but this offseason, Brady and Payton have a legitimate chance to end up together.

NBC Sports’ Mike Florio recently tossed around the idea of Brady and Payton teaming up, and the team he referenced might just surprise you.

There’s a team in the NFC South with a solid wide receiving core, committed to the run game and that boasts an above-average offensive line. Not to mention, their defense is an underrated unit.

Florio is, indeed, referencing the Carolina Panthers. It sounds crazy, but Florio makes it make a whole lot of sense.

Tom Brady and Sean Payton teaming up with the Carolina Panthers would be a nightmare for more than one NFC South team

If you’re a New Orleans Saints fan, this already sounds like the nightmare of all nightmares. Seeing your legendary, former head coach walk across the division to a team that recently won a Super Bowl would hurt.

Combine that with the greatest quarterback of all-time joining forces with said head coach?

This has now reached DEFON 1 for those down in New Orleans. But, let’s not forget about the Tampa Bay fans, here, as well.

Seeing Brady exit the postseason early in Tampa, only to spurn the team he called his own for three seasons and sign with a division rival? That’s a low blow, but it’s all entirely possible.

Florio went into detail and gave us four teams that are interested in Payton: the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans and, of course, Carolina.

This isn’t throwing wet spaghetti at a wall just to see if it sticks. Florio has the inside information, and if Carolina is truly interested, then this scenario becomes a possibility.

Boy, what a world that would be.
