WNBA Free Agency: 3 potential destinations for Courtney Vandersloot
1. Dallas Wings
The Dallas Wings have a few free agents of their own they need to focus on retaining, especially Teaira McCowan and Marina Mabrey. With Arike Ogunbowale’s defensive liabilities and limited passing ability, Vandersloot could stymie the issues with the Wings’ starting guard, raising their floor and solidifying both ends of the floor.
Sloot would see the largest responsibility in her career if she were to find a home in Dallas. She could elevate the 18-18 Dallas Wings of last season into a top-four seed. Dallas should be looking at adding Vandersloot as they were bottom-three in free throw percentage, assists and steals. Courtney directly addresses all three of these issues while also being able to add some depth and versatility to their scoring.
Dallas could break out of mediocrity and apply some real pressure to the top end of the league. Adding steadiness to both their offense and defense would be imperative to them playing with more poise. This would benefit their long-term prospects over the course of the 40-game regular season and would strengthen them going into the playoffs.
