Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni compared quarterback Jalen Hurts to NBA legend Michael Jordan.

The New York Giants learned for the third time this season that the talent gap between themselves and the Philadelphia Eagles is just too large right now. The Eagles, led by quarterback and NFL MVP Jalen Hurts, made easy work of the Giants, bringing the team to a 38-7 victory to clinch a spot in the NFC Championship Game. Hurts accounted for three touchdowns, two through the air and one on the ground to lift the Eagles.

During his postgame press conference, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni shared with the media who he thought Hurts reminded him of. That person, was NBA legend Michael Jordan.

“To have him out there is like — I know this is high praise, but to have him out there is like having — I shouldn’t even go there — it’s like having Michael Jordan out there,” Sirianni said, h/t ProFootballTalk. “He’s your leader. He’s your guy. Hopefully that’s the biggest respect I can pay to him comparing his ability to being on the field to a Michael Jordan type. This guy leads. He brings this calmness to the entire team. He plays great football. He’s as tough as they come. Yeah, I mean, to me, nobody has played any better football than him this year.”

It is quite the comparison for Sirianni to make. The real question is — will Jordan take this personally?

Hurts missed two of the team’s final three games of the season due to a sprained throwing shoulder. He did return for Week 18 for Philadelphia’s matchup against the Giants, where he went without a touchdown in the 22-16 win. Hurts said himself that his shoulder wasn’t 100-percent heading into their playoff game.

The shoulder looked pretty okay based on how he played on Saturday night.

Hurts completed 16-of-24 pass attempts for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Hurts didn’t need to throw the ball much, considering they were able to run all over the Giants defense, accumulating 268 yards on 44 carries. Hurts ran for 34 yards and a touchdown on nine attempts.

The Eagles now await the winner of Sunday’s Dallas Cowboys-San Francisco 49ers game. The Eagles will be hoping Hurts can have a similar performance in the NFC Championship Game.
