The Los Angeles Lakers acquired Rui Hachimura from the Washington Wizards on Monday. Will he make his debut with the team on Tuesday against the Clippers?

The Los Angeles Lakers, sitting in 12th place in the Western Conference, decided to make a move to hopefully bring the support that LeBron James needs to make a run to the playoffs. So, the Lakers made a call to the Washington Wizards, and acquired Rui Hachimura in exchange for Kendrick Nunn, a 2023 second-round pick they acquired from the Chicago Bulls, the Lakers 2029 second-round pick, and the less favorable of the 2028 second-round picks between the Wizards and Lakers.

With the 24-year-old now on board, Lakers fans are probably wondering when exactly Hachimura will make his debut. Some are asking if he will be ready for the team’s game against the LA Clippers on Tuesday night.

Will Rui Hachimura make Lakers debut vs. Clippers on Tuesday?

No, Hachimura won’t be playing against the Clippers on Tuesday night. But, there is a clearer picture as to when he might make his debut.

Jovan Buha of The Athletic tweeted out on Monday that Hachimura was expected to land in Los Angeles that night and undergo his physical on Tuesday. Buha says that there is possibility that Hachimura could play on Wednesday night when the Lakers face the San Antonio Spurs.

Hachimura was selected in the first-round of the 2019 NBA Draft by the Wizards out of Gonzaga. He started in every game he played in during his first two seasons in the NBA, but eventually became an option off the bench.

The Wizards were unable to reach an agreement with Hachimura on a rookie contract extension, and according to ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers plan to sign him to a contract extension this offseason. Hachimura is scheduled to become a restricted free agent after this season.

Through 30 games this season, Hachimura averaged 13.0 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 48.8-percent from the field.

While Hachimura won’t play on Tuesday night, there is a chance that he does play on Wednesday against the Spurs.
