3 Phillies players who left this winter that the fans will miss

These three former Philadelphia Phillies will be missed in 2023.
The Philadelphia Phillies roster has undergone some major changes this winter. In the process of changing things around, they’ve had to say goodbye to a couple of well-meaning and talented players.
Some of the Phillies who left this offseason in free agency or trades won’t be missed or remembered with much fondness. Others, meanwhile, deserve a few parting words of kindness and encouragement.
They weren’t the best players on the Phillies, but the absence of these three will be noticeable in 2023.
1. Phillies fans will miss Jean Segura even if he was frustrating at times
Jean Segura took Phillies fans on a wild ride. In four seasons with the team, Segura hit .281/.337/.418. He began as their starting third baseman before transitioning into playing shortstop and second base. He finally settled in as the starting second baseman where he played the majority of the time these last two years.
Segura was never the most important player in the Phillies lineup. However, he was pretty predictable. His batting average ranged from .266-.290. His OBP was between .323-.348. It was quality offense he brought to the field.
The Phillies will get to see him plenty as Segura is now with the Miami Marlins. Second base will now be occupied by Bryson Stott with shortstop getting taken over by Trea Turner. Turner’s presence will definitely dry up any sports tears cried over the loss of Segura. There is no doubt it’s a vast improvement.
In 2023, there may be some more growing pains with Stott at second base. Only in those moments will fans wonder if there was a way to call up Segura for some help. There isn’t. He’s on a rival now.
