The family of Ronald Acuña got into a fight in the crowd after the Atlanta Braves outfielder’s lengthy home run trot in the Venezuelan Winter League.
Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña went viral for his insane home run trot while playing in a Venezuelan Winter League game. After hitting a home run to dead center field for Tiburones, Acuña began gesturing to the crowd, did LeBron James’ “Silencer” celebration, and danced when approaching home plate. It took nearly a minute for Acuña to round the bases.
Following his trot around the bases, there was a brawl in the stands amongst Leones del Caracas fans, and members of Acuña’s family. Video comes courtesy of Alberto Rod News.

Immediately after the game, Acuña reportedly posted a message on his Instagram story that he was retiring from the Venezuelan Winter League. Shortly afterwards, Acuña deleted his Instagram account. However, his Twitter account still remains active.
David O’Brien of The Athletic revealed during an interaction with a Twitter user that Acuña’s family was harassed and had beer thrown at them during the game. O’Brien said this was why the Braves outfielder decided to pull out of the Venezuelan Winter League.
Acuña will not be playing for Team Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic after listening to the team’s training staff.
Last year, Acuña recovered from a torn ACL suffered the year prior and made his season debut in late April. He did, however, deal with multiple injuries throughout the 2022 campaign. In 119 games played, Acuña recorded a .266 batting average, a .351 on-base percentage, a .413 slugging percentage, 15 home runs, 50 RBI, 71 runs scored, and 124 hits.
Simply put, Acuña’s home run trot made the news in a variety of ways.
