Trevon Diggs calls out trolls, but is he talking to Cowboys trolls or Eli Apple?

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs called out trolls on Twitter, but was it against Cowboys trolls or Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple.

The Dallas Cowboys‘ quest to get to the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl continues once again. The last time they did both was in the 1995 season. This season ended in the Divisional Round, with the San Francisco 49ers picking up the 19-12 victory.

On Tuesday, Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs sent out a tweet that read “how you running to the internet to troll knowing you not like that.”

Who was Diggs directing the tweet towards? Cowboys trolls? Or Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple, who was trolling his older brother, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

Whenever the Cowboys lose, their detractors head to social media to troll them. As big of a fanbase as the Cowboys have, the bigger their group of haters. Given that this is yet another year where team owner Jerry Jones missed out on winning a Super Bowl, they sure let the players and Cowboys Twitter account hear about it.

As for Apple, he has the tendency to go on Twitter to gloat after the Bengals win in a big playoff game. The Bengals already felt like they were being counted out when entering the Divisional Round against the Bills, considering the league was selling AFC Championship Game tickets at the neutral site of Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the Buffalo vs. Kansas City game. Cincinnati went on to win that game 27-10 to advance to the conference title matchup and eliminate Buffalo from the playoffs.

Apple took to Twitter to mock Diggs, who was seen visibly frustrated on the sidelines, yelling toward quarterback Josh Allen. Diggs also went on a Twitter rant following the loss.

The cornerback called Diggs “Terrell Owens Jr.” and said of the quarterback-wideout duo “someone get them couples therapy.” Apple also replied to one of Diggs’ tweets that read “Cancun on 3,” which some felt was a shot at Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who suffered cardiac arrest in Week 17, and that he used the hand heart gesture throughout his playing career. Apple used the hand-heart emoji in that aforementioned tweet.

In regards to Diggs’ tweet, Philadelphia Eagles safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson responded to it, and the Cowboys’ starting safety retweeted it.

The Cowboys’ season ended earlier than expected, as their offense couldn’t put up an adequate number of points and yards to beat them. Meanwhile, Dallas’ defense did hold the 49ers to just 19 points. Dallas will look to find a way to finally reach the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl in the 2023 season.
