Updated NFL Draft order after Divisional Round
By John Buhler
Let’s take a look at the updated NFL Draft order after the Divisional Round has been played out.
Only four teams are left in the NFL playoffs, so that means 28 others are full-steam ahead to the NFL Draft.
Although not every team has a first-round pick this year (sorry, Los Angeles Rams), everyone will have opportunities to get better through the draft in its entirety. While everybody has known for a few weeks now how the top-18 (non-playoff teams) shake out, let’s take a little bit of a deep dive into the updated draft order after the four riveting games that were played out in the Divisionals.
The Buffalo Bills, the Dallas Cowboys, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Giants now know when they are picking.

Jacksonville will be picking 24th because they had the worst record of any team who lost in the Divisional Round. New York was slightly better than the Jaguars, so the Giants will be picking 25th. Dallas has the 26th pick after its complete meltdown in the final minutes vs. the San Francisco 49ers. Buffalo went 13-3 and will be picking 27th after the Bills lost to the Cincinnati Bengals.
There are only four teams left in the playoffs, but not all of them have a first-round pick. While Cincinnati, Kansas City and Philadelphia will be picking somewhere in the No. 28 to No. 31-range, the team picking in place of the 49ers will be the Denver Broncos. This pick comes to Denver by way of the Bradley Chubb trade with the Miami Dolphins, who do not have their first-round pick.
When looking at the four teams who now know when they are picking, the Cowboys are picking about where they should be. Jacksonville and New York have worse picks than many people expected they would at the start of the season. As for Buffalo, it is slightly worse than expected, as the Bills were largely seen as a final-four candidate to start the year. The Bills underachieved.
After this weekend, we will know where two more teams will be picking in the upcoming draft.
