MLB news: The Los Angeles Dodgers have underdelivered in free agency this offseason.

One of the most disappointing teams in terms of free agent spending this offseason has been the Los Angeles Dodgers. After being bounced by their division rival, the San Diego Padres, in the National League Division Series last fall, the Dodgers have done little to combat the lucrative spending of the Friars this offseason.

The Dodgers are easily the second-best team in the NL West, and some may even argue that the division still goes through LA. However, after A.J. Preller and the Padres made the massive acquisition of Xander Bogaerts this offseason, the Dodgers may have a tough time contending for the division title.

The Dodgers re-signed Clayton Kershaw, added Noah Syndergaard, and acquired designated hitter J.D. Martinez. But, longtime third baseman Justin Turner signed with the Boston Red Sox and shortstop Trea Turner is now with the defending National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be relying upon some of their young players like Gavin Lux, Will Smith, and Dustin May. LA still has former MVPs Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman on the roster and may be looking to make a big splash in free agency next offseason by signing Shohei Ohtani.
