Who is singing the national anthem at Chiefs-Bengals AFC Championship Game?
Who sang the national anthem for the AFC Championship Game between the Bengals and the Chiefs? It should be a familiar voice for Kansas City fans.
On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game. As Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow are set to face off for the second straight playoffs with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, this is the type of matchup that makes the NFL great.
When it comes to these big playoff games, though, the national anthem and all of the festivities around the contests are just a bit bigger. No, it’s not the Super Bowl halftime show or even The Star Spangled Banner being sung at that game.
However, it is a big deal, especially with the raucous Arrowhead Stadium being the setting for the AFC Championship Game. So that begs the question, who is singing the national anthem for Bengals vs. Chiefs?
Who is singing the national anthem for Chiefs-Bengals AFC Championship Game?
Fans in Kansas City will probably recognize the singer of the anthem on Sunday for the AFC title clash as it will be retired US Navy Veteran Generald Wilson singing. Retired US Navy petty officer 1st class Wilson performed the national anthem for the Chiefs’ home opener against the Chargers this season back in September as well.
Wilson has performed The Star Spangled Banner for many sporting events since his retirement from the United States Navy. He performed before Game 3 of the 2013 World Series between the Red Sox and Cardinals. And that is just a drop in the bucket. Wilson definitely has earned acclaim and opportunity for his pipes.
