NBA Injury report: How long will Luka Doncic, LeBron James be out?
By Ian Levy
The NBA injury report is loaded with stars for Monday, Jan. 30, including LeBron James and Luka Doncic. Who is officially out and for how long?
Today’s injury report includes 10 players who have made an All-Star team over the past few years, and that doesn’t include rising second-year guard Cade Cunningham, Defensive Player of the Year candidate OG Anunoby or Chet Holmgren, the No. 2 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Here’s hoping tonight wasn’t the night you splurged on NBA tickets.
Which stars are listed on the NBA injury report today?
Joel Embiid — Questionable
Embiid seems likely to play. He was listed as questionable Saturday against the Nuggets but was in the starting lineup and went for 47 points.
Kevin Durant — Out
Durant is dealing with an MCL sprain in his knee and is out for at least the next two weeks, after which his timeline will then be reassessed.
Ben Simmons — Questionable
Simmons is questionable with a sore knee. He missed the Nets’ win over the New York Knicks on Saturday.
Anthony Davis — Out
Davis returned to the Lakers lineup for the last two games after missing 20 games with a stress injury in his foot. However, he has been ruled out against the Nets, likely to give the foot some rest.
LeBron James — Out
James has also been ruled out tonight against the Nets with a sore left ankle.
Rudy Gobert — Questionable
Gobert is listed as questionable with groin soreness. However, he’s been listed as questionable for the past few days with the same injury and has still appeared in each of the Timberwolves’ last four games, playing over 30 minutes in each.
Karl-Anthony Towns — Out
Towns has been out since the end of November with a calf strain. The initial injury timeline would have had him available to return sometime in January but the team recently shared that there is currently no timetable for his return.
Luka Doncic — Questionable
Doncic left just three minutes into the Mavs’ game against the Suns last Thursday after tweaking his ankle. He also missed the Mavs’ loss to Utah on Saturday and is questionable to return tonight against the Pistons.
Devin Booker — Out
Booker has missed 20 games with a groin injury, going back to the middle of December. He has been ruled out tonight against the Raptors but is expected to be re-evaluated in the next few days.
Trae Young — Questionable
Young is questionable with ankle soreness but has gone over 35 minutes in his last nine games and seems likely to play tonight as well.
