Early Patrick Mahomes injury update for Super Bowl will get Chiefs fans hyped

The Kansas City Chiefs have revealed good news surrounding Patrick Mahomes’ ankle injury ahead of the Super Bowl matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain in a divisional round win against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he hasn’t looked the same since.
Despite playing on one leg, Mahomes managed to eke out a victory against the Chiefs’ fierce AFC rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals, in the AFC Championship game, yet he was clearly limited in mobility and was spotted limping across the field on several occasions.
He finished with 326 passing yards and two touchdowns against zero interceptions; he also completed an end-of-game scramble to set the Chiefs up for the game-winning field goal.
With a banged-up wide receiver room and with opponents learning how to double-team tight end Travis Kelce, Mahomes still found a way to get Kansas City through a nasty AFC gauntlet and into the Super Bowl. His ankle won’t magically recover in time for the February 12 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, but there is a slim bit of good news regarding his health status.

Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Mahomes didn’t suffer any major setbacks after the AFC Championship game and is “in good shape.”
Some would argue Mahomes on one leg still ranks as an elite quarterback given his unrivaled passing abilities and football acumen — one NFL pundit has even gone so far as to rank “Mahomes on one leg” as a top-3 quarterback in the league behind a healthy Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow.
With the Super Bowl a little less than two weeks away, Mahomes is afforded additional time to rest and rehab his ankle. He thanked Chiefs trainer Julie Frymeyer for designing his rehab plan last week, and Frymeyer will once again play a key role in getting Mahomes ready for one of the biggest games of his career.
