Who is singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl?
Did you know that people place bets about how long the National Anthem will take? That’s how important the National Anthem at the Super Bowl is (aside from it being ahem, the NATIONAL ANTHEM).
But I digress.
This time, for Super Bowl 57, the National Anthem will be sung by Chris Stapleton. In case you aren’t familiar, Stapleton is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and musician who is best known for his long hair and beard. Some of his more well-known songs are “Either Way” and “Tennesse Whisky.”
He joins a long list of performers who have held the honor. Here are a few more:
- LVI (2022) Mickey Guyton
- LV (2021) Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan
- LIV (2020) Demi Lovato
- LIII (2019) Gladys Knight
- LII (2018) Pink
- LI (2017) Luke Bryan
- 50 (2016) Lady Gaga
- XLIX (2015) Idina Menzel
- XLVIII (2014) Renée Fleming
- XLVII (2013) Alicia Keys
Who has been your favorite in Super Bowl history and who would you still like to see perform at the Super Bowl?
A bit of Super Bowl National Anthem history …
The first ever National Anthem to be sung at a Super Bowl occurred in 1967 and has been sung every single game since then … except for one. Vikki Carr sang “America the Beautiful” in place of the anthem at Super Bowl XI in 1977. Additionally, an American Sign Language (ASL) performer has accompanied the national anthem in ASL since 1992.
