When is the 2023 World Baseball Classic?

Once again this year, MLB spring training and the World Baseball Classic will happen simultaneously, drawing attention of baseball fans from all over the world.

For the first time since 2017, the World Baseball Classic returns this March, with players from 20 countries vying to win the championship.

When does World Baseball Classic pool play begin?

The 2023 World Baseball Classic begins on March 8 at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in Taichung, Taiwan, with Cuba facing off against The Netherlands. That kicks off six days of play in Taiwan, with Chinese Taipei, Italy, and Panama joining in the round-robin play as part of Pool A action.

On March 9, pool play begins at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, as Australia and Korea face off. Those two counties will be joined by China, Japan, and the Czech Republic in Pool B play that ends on March 13.

The United States section of the tournament starts on March 11 in Phoenix (Pool C at Chase Field) and Miami (Pool D at loanDepot park) and runs through March 15. Pool C features Canada, Colombia, Great Britain, Mexico, and the United States (the defending champions and captained this year by Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout), while Pool D contains the Dominican Republic, Israel, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Nicaragua.

When are the World Baseball Classic quarterfinals?

In quarterfinal action, the winners and runners-up from Pools A and B will meet March 15 and 16 in Tokyo while the winners and runners-up from Pools C and D will face off March 17 and 18 in Miami. These games will all be single-elimination, as will all remaining WBC matchups.

The semifinals matching the four remaining teams will take place on March 19 and 20 in Miami.

When is the World Baseball Classic championship game?

The two counties that advance to the World Baseball Classic championship game will meet on March 21 in Miami.
