Warriors vs. Timberwolves prediction and odds for Wednesday, February 1 (Fade Golden State?)
By Peter Dewey
The Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves are separated by just half a game in the Western Conference standings heading into Wednesday night’s matchup.
Golden State is coming off a road win against the Oklahoma City Thunder, just its seventh road win in 25 tries this season.
The Warriors are playing better as of late, going 6-4 in their last 10 games to move into the No. 5 spot in the West.
Minnesota has done a great job staying competitive without Karl-Anthony Towns (calf), and it has thrived at home as an underdog in the 2022-23 season, going 9-4 against the spread.
Rudy Gobert is listed as questionable for this game for Minnesota, and it would be a big blow if he couldn’t suit up. With the Warriors going small as of late in their starting lineup, Gobert could be in line for a big game.
Let’s jump into the odds for this game as well as my best bet:

Warriors vs. Timberwolves prediction
Even though the Warriors won and covered against the Thunder on Monday, they are just 3-8 against the spread as road favorites this season.
Golden State’s defense takes a major step back on the road this season, and the Warriors almost didn’t cover against OKC, but they picked up a late offensive rebound on a missed free throw to ice the game.
The Wolves deserve a ton of respect for staying competitive without arguably their best player, as Towns hasn’t played since Nov. 28.
I think they have a shot to cover in this game, especially since the Warriors are struggling just to win outright on the road.
Over their last 10 games these teams have the same record, but the Wolves are just 0.5 behind the Warriors in net rating over that stretch.
Minnesota can push the pace (seventh this season) with Golden State’s offense, which is No. 1 in the league in that metric. That is a key to staying in this game, as the Warriors can bury slower-playing teams with one quick run at times.
Until we see the Warriors truly turn things around on the road, I’ll gladly take the points with almost any home dog against them.
