2. The Spurs can make it happen in multiple ways

The Spurs have the same lottery odds as the Rockets so there’s a good chance they could be in the top-4 as well with that as the foundation of their package to try and move up. They also have several very intriguing young players who could both be used to sell a deal and to build around Wembanyama with what’s left.

For example, the Spurs could offer their top-4 pick, the Hornets’ lottery-protected pick for 2024 or the Hawks’ for 2025 as well as a choice of Tre Jones, Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell or Jeremy Sochan. The Magic or Thunder could get the player they (maybe) covet more, along with an extra first-round and another young player who could be plugged immediately into their rotation. The Spurs would move forward with Wembanyama, three of Jones, Johnson, Vassell or Sochan as well three or four extra first-rounders over the next few drafts with incoming picks from the Hawks and Celtics.
