Duke scored its best win of the season by beating their rival North Carolina over the weekend, but now it hits the road to face an ACC contender in Miami on Monday night.

The Hurricanes are off of an impressive victory as well, knocking off the first place team in the ACC Clemson on Saturday. Has Duke turned a corner and can string together quality wins as they realize their talent?

Let’s find out by first checking out the odds:

Duke vs. Miami prediction and pick

Duke beat Miami in the first meeting between the two back on Jan. 21. It was a two-point win, but the Blue Devils had the game in hand for much of the second half as the team’s length caused a ton of problems for the Hurricanes inside. Miami shot 12-of-42 on two-point shots in the loss, and I envision similar issues for them on Monday.

The Hurricanes have the best offense in the ACC, led by their two guards Nijel Pack and Isaiah Wong, and the team is hyper reliant on getting into the paint. Miami has the best two-point offense in ACC play, hitting on nearly 54% of their shots.

However, Duke’s length can shut down the rim and I don’t trust Hurricanes big man Norchad Omier to pull the likes of Kyle Filipowski or Dereck Lively away from the rim and make the necessary pass to open up clean shots for the Miami wings.

On the other side, Duke can dominate on the offensive glass against a Miami team that is 258th in defensive rebounding rate. The Blue Devils are second in the country in offensive rebounding rate. They can win the extra categories and outpace the Canes simply by getting more shots up.

Duke closed a 6.5-point favorite in the first meeting, and I’m happy to back them at over a bucket in this one.
