Lamar Jackson rumors: 3 teams that should jump at trade amid contract disparity
By John Buhler
Las Vegas Raiders must enter the fray if they miss out on landing Aaron Rodgers
Trading Jackson in-conference will be a tricky proposition, but the Silver and Black are one of the few teams that could make it work. The Las Vegas Raiders are getting out of the Derek Carr business. While they have a top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, they have a roster that is largely in win-now mode. Of course, the Raiders have been tied to Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.
Schematically, Jackson would fit in quite well with what Josh McDaniels wants to do offensively. This is the man who overdrafted Jackson’s Heisman fraternity brother Tim Tebow after all. Jackson would provide some of the overall dynamism Carr did lack at times from the quarterback position. Frankly, he would assimilate quite well with the rebel brand of the Raiders if he was traded there.
Should the Raiders be in on Jackson? Yes, but I don’t really feel like he is at the top of their list right now. They stand a better chance at getting Rodgers because they don’t play in the same conference. Even if there were to miss out, the Raiders are in a great position to draft one of the three-to-four first-round quarterback talents this spring. They can move up to No. 1 with Chicago.
The fit works, but it is hard to see Las Vegas viewing Jackson as anything more than a third option.
