Head coach Sean Payton revealed which side he’s backing in the Super Bowl, automatically getting him into Broncos fans’ good graces.

Denver Broncos new head coach Sean Payton gave a brilliant explanation for why he picked the Philadelphia Eagles to win the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Payton could have based his answer on previous players he coached or which team he deems is stronger overall, yet he decided to go down the more endearing route, taking a big first step to win over Broncos fans everywhere.

The former New Orleans Saints coach decided to go with the Eagles because he didn’t want anyone in his division, the AFC West, to win.

After going over a small speed bump in which Payton dismissed the notion of Russell Wilson having his own coaches in the building, it seems like Payton has one firm hand on the Broncos ship’s steering wheel and is guiding it slowly in the right direction.

Sean Payton is the head coach the Denver Broncos deserve

Disfunction ran rampant in the Broncos’ 2022 season in which Denver had no answer for Wilson’s visible and highly concerning regression. As Denver’s coaching staff picked up the pieces of the earth-shattering Wilson trade, the franchise’s fanbase watched the season unfold with absolute horror, seeing Wilson throw pick after pick and seeing the team fall further behind in the competitive AFC West.

From a short-term perspective, yes, the Broncos sold their souls for a 34-year-old immobile quarterback who attracts the wrong kind of attention for his in-flight antics and eye-rolling catchphrases.

By bringing on one of the league’s most admirable leaders in Sean Payton, though, the Broncos have given themselves a chance to, at the very least, improve in 2023.

Payton could have said he supported the Eagles because two former Saints players, Ian Book and C.J. Gardner Johnson, have since joined Philly, but he revealed his true allegiance to Denver and is saying all the right things as the Broncos’ newly minted head coach.

Broncos country, if you don’t want to ride with Wilson, ride with Sean Payton.
