Seton Hall is in need of some quality wins ahead of next month’s Selection Sunday, currently projected to miss the field narrowly, but the team has a great opportunity to impress the Selection Committee with a quality win over Creighton on Wednesday night.

The Pirates host the Bluejays in a Big East battle at the Prudential Center on Wednesday in hopes of scoring their seventh win in eight games. Creighton enters as winners of six straight, but have done most of their damage at home. Will it translate on the road?

Here are the odds for Wednesday’s meeting:

Creighton vs. Seton Hall odds, spread and total

Creighton vs. Seton Hall prediction and pick

Creighton destroyed Seton Hall back on January 3rd, 83-61, in Omaha, but the team hasn’t been the same on the road this season. The team is 1-3 against the spread away from home in conference play.

The team has the best defense in Big East play, built around 7’1″ center Ryan Kalkbrenner, one of the best rim protectors in the country. While the team doesn’t turn opponents over (second lowest turnover rate in Big East play), they funnel teams inside the arc and into the likes of Kalkbrenner on the inside where they post the best two-point defense in the conference.

Will this translate on the road? Seton Hall is built around their defense as well, the second best defense in the conference. Shaheen Holloway’s team has struggled on offense all season long, but the team has a stifling defense that has been dominant at home, 9-3 straight up this season.

The Bluejays are starting to realize their high ceiling this season, but the offense continues to be a concern as they have not had the success from the perimeter that many had hoped when they landed Baylor Scheierman in the transfer portal. Creighton is shooting below 35% from three in Big East play and I think that’s what costs them the cover on Wednesday. In a battle of two stout defenses, I’ll side with the home underdog.
