How to experience secret Google celebration commemorating LeBron’s new record
By Josh Wilson
Google is commemorating LeBron James’s newest record with a fun experience users can see with a simple search query.
LeBron James added another bullet point to his case for being referred to as the greatest NBA player of all time when he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on Tuesday night for the most points scored in an NBA career.
James now has 38,390 points, and every point scored from here on out will only add to his record and legacy. It adds to a long list of accomplishments that includes:
- 4-time NBA Champion
- 4-time MVP
- 4-time Finals MVP
- 19 All-Star appearances
- 18 All-NBA teams
- 6-time All-Defensive Team
- 2004 Rookie of the Year
If he can get this year’s Lakers team from 13th in the Western Conference to the Finals, that would be perhaps his biggest accomplishment yet.
How to see Google’s celebration for LeBron James
Google is officially more excited than Anthony Davis.
Fans of LeBron will want to head on over to Google to experience a neat little experience that nods at LeBron’s accomplishment.
When you search for “LeBron James” or “LeBron” on Google today, you’ll see the normal search results with an overlay of basketballs, crowns, basketball hoops and confetti to commemorate James’s record-setting night. You can click this link to see it, too.
The crowns, of course, are a reference to his nickname, “King James.”
James also got a celebration on-court in the middle of the Lakers’ game against the OKC Thunder on Tuesday night. He made a speech to the crowd in attendance. Kareem was also in attendance to witness his record being broken and to hand the proverbial torch on. Abdul-Jabbar has held the record since1984.
