Did Gisele impact Tom Brady’s retirement decision?
By Kristen Wong
Prior to his retirement announcement, Tom Brady apparently discussed his future with his ex-wife, Gisele Bundchen. It’s not hard to imagine what she would’ve told him.
“One year too late, Tom.”
Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady finally decided to call it quits after a legendary career, retiring with shelves stacked with all his accumulated trophies and accolades over the past two decades. The seven Lombardy Trophies. The three league MVPs. More Pro Bowls and All-Pro nods than one can count.
Before announcing his big decision on social media, Brady reportedly sought advice from his ex-wife, Gisele Bundchen, who divorced him in the middle of the 2022 season.
Their very public separation culminated after months of gossip surrounding Bundchen’s presumed displeasure over Brady’s decision to un-retire last offseason and run it back with the boys.
Months after their divorce, Brady and his wife, who are reportedly on “cordial terms,” talked things through before Brady came to his final decision.

Sources even said Bundchen has been “a real rock” throughout it all but stopped short of saying whether the two might reconcile their marriage in the future.
From an outsider’s perspective, there seems to be a better chance of seeing Brady reunite with his wife than seeing him in a Pats uniform again. For the sake of people’s sanity and in an attempt to avoid spreading gossip, let’s just say neither will come true.
A week into his retirement, Brady seems like he’s very much enjoying the single life, lounging around his underwear and calling up his old Pats’ chums. It only took Brady 40 days last offseason to slither his way back into the league, yet this time, his retirement feels much more permanent. Plus, if the whole sports analyst thing doesn’t work out, he can (but still shouldn’t) consider a future career in modeling.
As for the Brady bunch, Tom Brady’s split with Gisele Bundchen generated enough memes to last a lifetime, and they likely want their own peace and quiet as they move forward with their separate lives.
The Brady family might not get their fairytale ending, but such is life.
