Eric Gordon is drawing trade interest from multiple teams. Will the veteran finally get traded or will he stay in a Rockets uniform for another half-season?

According to Sam Amico, Eric Gordon continues to be on the market with his reported preference for a trade that still hasn’t been fulfilled. According to the report, management expressed that Gordon has still acted like a true vet despite the trade request.

Trading Gordon will be hard due to the two years left on his contract. While he only has $18 million dollars and a non-guaranteed $20 million dollars for next season, that becomes guaranteed if a team wins the championship with him on the roster.

What teams have an interest in trading for Eric Gordon?

These teams that Amico said had even “exploratory” interest were the Celtics, Raptors and Heat. Of these three teams, it is hard to say that the Raptors will have more than “exploratory interest” as they are debating whether to retool or keep their current group semi-together.

The Celtics could make sense if they were able to get him at a very low price and didn’t have to give up a first-round pick in a deal. The Heat would have a very tricky time getting a deal together as they would need to go over the luxury tax to get a deal done.

Other teams were mentioned to have trade interest in another report by Kelly Iko. According to Iko. the Clippers and Suns have a “serious” interest in acquiring Gordon.

These teams are more able to acquire Gordon. The Clippers could see if the Rockets are interested in dealing with second-round picks if they fail to add a true ball-handler in Fred VanVleet or Mike Conley. Considering the price Houston has placed on Gordon, that deal might not get it done. The other option is Phoenix.

The Suns would make the most sense as they have Jae Crowder as a trade piece, but the Rockets have no use for Crowder as an expiring contract. A three-team deal where a team sends second-round picks back to Houston along with the Suns sending a first to Houston makes the most sense (something like adding the Bucks’ deal for Crowder into it).

Although this deal could make sense, it seems like the Suns are valuing trading their firsts in a Kevin Durant trade this summer or for an upgrade at point guard. With the lack of a good trade market and Houston wanting to make sure they get an accurate value for the vet, it seems that Gordon might be staying in Houston for the time being.
