5 teams that could ruin Arte Moreno’s dream of keeping Shohei Ohtani
2. San Francisco Giants
The Giants had Aaron Judge … until they didn’t. They had Carlos Correa … until they didn’t. The desire to land a superstar free agent is there, and the Giants fell short this past offseason. That wasn’t for lack of effort as they offered Judge a ton of money and they had a deal agreed to with Correa before the physical issues.
The Giants don’t have the roster the first three teams listed have, but they have a history of winning, are out west, and have the money to entice someone like Ohtani to come.
The Giants have won three World Series titles in the last 13 years and won 107 games in 2021. I get that a lot of that roster was old and is now gone, but it’s not like they’re incapable of building a winning ball club like the Angels seem to be.
They have the financial resources necessary to land a player of his caliber and are a team out west. Ohtani would not have to move too far and can live a similar life he’s living right now.
The Giants are not a team I’d consider the favorite to land Ohtani, but they have a puncher’s chance.
