Last night, the Dallas Mavericks moved to 2-0 with Kyrie Irving with a win over the Kings in Sacramento. Tonight, they’re going to run it back as the Kings host the Mavs for the second game of a back-to-back. Kyrie had 25 points and 10 assists yesterday and the Mavs hit nine more threes than Sacramento. Fox led the way with 33 points for the Kings, but it wasn’t enough in the eight point loss.

Luka Doncic is questionable to play tonight after it looked like he would get on the floor yesterday before ultimately being ruled out. The odds will likely swing if Luka does get cleared, but for now the Kings are slight favorites.

Mavericks vs. Kings prediction and pick

When Kyrie is happy and things are going well, he’s one of the best players in the NBA and can carry his team for stretches. We’re seeing that right now, but the problem is that it doesn’t last very long. That’s not to say Kyrie is going to request another trade before tip-off tonight, but you never know how long he can stay on his best behavior. This is the honeymoon phase for Dallas and their new point guard and once Luka comes back, they could look like a real Western Conference contender.

Dallas is 5-0 against the spread in their last five games and their defense is actually holding up well enough with the addition of Kyrie and the loss of Dorian Finney-Smith. They forced the Kings into 14 turnovers last night, but they only won by eight in a game where they had 16 more field goal attempts. If Sacramento can be more careful with the ball, and rebound a bit better today, then they should be able to win. The Kings are the No. 1 scoring offense in the NBA, I would be shocked if Dallas can beat them in Sacramento two days in a row.
