Latest Aaron Rodgers trade rumors ahead of Super Bowl [UPDATED]
By Josh Wilson
Super Bowl Sunday is here, but that’s not going to stop the news cycle from spinning on Aaron Rodgers trade rumors. Here’s the latest.
The Super Bowl will be played this evening between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, but so far on Sunday, that hasn’t stopped the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers from making an appearance in the news cycle.
Rodgers, several days ago, made it clear he’s undecided about his future in the NFL. Retirement seems fully on the table, and he’s going dark to figure it all out.
Assuming he comes back to the NFL, he’ll either be a Packer (obviously) or he won’t. There’s a very real chance he could be traded this offseason.
So, what’s new?
Jets are ready to talk formally about Aaron Rodgers trade
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Jets have inquired about the possibility of a Rodgers trade after weeks of hinting at a “veteran quarterback” that they hope to start next season.
Aaron Rodgers trade rumors: Packers don’t want to trade him as bad as we thought
Originally, it was suggested that the Packers were all but done with Rodgers and ready to open up the offers on trades. Now, they’ve changed course and only want to trade Rodgers if that’s his desire.
That’s according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network this morning.
"“On the other hand, if Rodgers decides he wants to stay in Green Bay and is fully bought in — “I’m either all-in or all-out,” Rodgers told McAfee last month about playing in 2023 — the Packers would want him back. The sides had productive conversations in the days after finishing a disappointing 8-9 season. More conversations figure to be needed, though, to make sure everyone is on the same page about the direction of the franchise and the roster.”"
Maybe the original reports were right and they found there was not much of a market for Rodgers. Or, perhaps they were simply incorrect.
Aaron Rodgers trade rumors: Raiders looked like best destination, but maybe not anymore
The Raiders need a quarterback, they have made it clear that their time with Derek Carr is over. Rodgers has been subtly recruited by Davante Adams on social media, but it would take more than just Adams’ interest in bringing Rodgers to Vegas to make it happen.
It seems as though the Raiders are actually more likely to go in another direction. They prefer to bring in Jimmy Garoppolo according to the latest reports.
Aaron Rodgers trade rumors: His teammates in Wisco want him back
Rodgers might get tempted to reunite with one of his best receiver teammates ever in Davante Adams in Las Vegas, but there’s talent in Green Bay that very much wants to still play with him as well.
Aaron Jones recently made his pitch to Rodgers to keep playing and keep doing it in Green Bay.
