Red Sox accuse Dodgers of cheating

There’s been a constant back and forth between the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers regarding cheating and sign stealing in the 2018 World Series. While the Houston Astros were eventually the team first punished (and rightly so), they reportedly were not alone.

One anonymous member of the 2018 Red Sox — who went on to win that World Series — thinks Los Angeles got away with quite a lot that postseason.

“The Dodgers have always been the thing that bothers me the most,” said the member, per the Boston Globe. “Because they’re the biggest cheaters in the whole [expletive] industry. … They were doing it against us in the ’18 World Series. They got caught by Major League Baseball and Major League Baseball did nothing.”

Did Dodgers get away with cheating in 2018?

All of this was revealed in Evan Drellich’s new book, ‘Winning Fixes Everything: How Baseball’s Brightest Minds Created Sports’ Biggest Mess’ on the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal.

Another source from Drellich’s book pointed to a different example of the Dodgers’ sketchy nature.

“‘Hey, did you get his signs yet?,’” Pederson apparently asked. “And they’re just like, ‘[Expletive] — [expletive] idiot,’” said the source.

It’s unclear what, if anything, Los Angeles was responsible for during the 2018 season. MLB concluded that Red Sox video operator J.T. Watkins was the major culprit in the 2018 scandal. He was suspended for the 2020 season, but eventually rehired by the team part-time.
