Which NFL teams have never won the Super Bowl?
By Scott Rogust
There are many NFL teams that can say that they have a Super Bowl win to their credit. Let’s take a look at the teams who have yet to win a Super Bowl.
The 57th edition of the Super Bowl takes place on Sunday, Feb.12, and will feature a battle between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. Both teams hold a Super Bowl title to their credit, with the Chiefs holding two and the Eagles holding one. On paper, this could be one of the most competitive Super Bowls in history.
When it comes to which teams have a Super Bowl win on their resume, the Chiefs and Eagles are among 20 NFL organizations. So, which teams haven’t hoisted the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season?
Let’s take a look.
Which NFL teams have not won the Super Bowl?
Here are the 12 NFL teams who have not won the big game:
- Buffalo Bills (0-4)
- Minnesota Vikings (0-4)
- Cincinnati Bengals (0-3)
- Atlanta Falcons (0-2)
- Carolina Panthers (0-2)
- Tennessee Titans (0-1)
- Los Angeles Chargers (0-1)
- Arizona Cardinals (0-1)
- Cleveland Browns (0-0)
- Detroit Lions (0-0)
- Houston Texans (0-0)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0)
Out of these 12 teams, only the Lions, Browns, Texans, and Jaguars have never even made an appearance in the big game. That’s right, not once.
The Bills have probably had the worst luck in the Super Bowl. They won the AFC championship four times, four years in a row (1990-93). Yet, they were unable to get a single victory in the Super Bowl. Let’s take a look at the final scores of each game:
- 1990: 20-19 loss to New York Giants
- 1991: 37-24 loss to Washington
- 1992: 52-17 loss to Dallas Cowboys
- 1993: 30-13 loss to Dallas Cowboys
Buffalo isn’t the only NFL organization to lose the most Super Bowls without a win. The Vikings also have four losses to their credit without a victory. Let’s take a look at the results of their games:
- 1969: 23-7 loss to Kansas City Chiefs
- 1973: 24-7 loss to Miami Dolphins
- 1975: 16-6 loss to Pittsburgh Steelers
- 1976: 32-14 loss to Oakland Raiders
These 12 teams will look to win the big game at some point in the near future, preferably next season.
