Netflix documentary Full Swing will cover the PGA Tour with an unprecedented look at an unprecedented year in golf. Here’s everything you need to know.

For the past year in golf as drama has embroiled the sport with the chasm created by LIV Golf splintering the PGA Tour, we’ve known that a Netflix golf documentary has been coming as they were granted unprecedented access to players, to tournaments and to everything going on in the world of golf. And now we’re about to see the final product with the release of Full Swing.

This is a documentary series that has golf fans buzzing. It’s truly been a year unlike any other in the sport, and getting this kind of access to see everything transpire should be an incredible viewing experience. But the hope is that it will also help to grow the PGA Tour audience and create new fans.

It’s going to be can’t-miss viewing for any sports fans, not just fans of golf. And if you want to watch, we have you covered with everything you need to know about Full Swing.

Full Swing release date: When does Full Swing come out on Netflix?

Full Swing is set to hit Netflix on Wednesday, Feb. 15. As is the case with all new Netflix shows, the series will hit the streaming service at 3:00 a.m. ET/12:00 a.m. PT. The full season will be released all at once, as is also the case with most original series on the streaming platform.

Full Swing cast, episode list and synopsis: Who is in the Netflix documentary?

As is said in any trailer you may have seen, they picked one hell of a year to follow the PGA Tour as they will navigate through the 2022 portion of the 2021-22 season. Not only will Full Swing offer an unparalleled amount of access behind the scenes throughout the season, including at The Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open Championship, but it will also follow the drama bubbling up throughout 2022 regarding LIV Golf. That’s especially juicy considering that some of the subjects involved in the documentary actually left the PGA Tour for the Saudi-backed league.

Moreover, the series also promises to peel back the curtain and give fans a view into the personal lives of these pro golfers and what they have to go through when we don’t see them on the course for four rounds over a weekend.

But how many episodes are there? How will the show be set up? Each episode will largely focus on one or two golfers at specific points throughout the 2022 PGA Tour season as viewers and fans get looks at the triumphs and trials that these players face week in and week out.

Here’s a full list of the episodes and the golfers featured in each installment (though more golfers and golf media, including Barstool Sports’ Dan Rapaport, CBS Sports’ Amanda Renner, Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee and more, are seen and heard from in each episode).

  • Episode 1, “Frenemies” – Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas
  • Episode 2, “Win or Go Home” – Brooks Koepka, Scottie Scheffler
  • Episode 3, “Money or Legacy” – Ian Poulter
  • Episode 4, “Imposter Syndrome” – Joel Dahmen
  • Episode 5, “American Dreams” – Matt Fitzpatrick, Dustin Johnson
  • Episode 6, “Don’t Get Bitter, Get Better” – Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa
  • Episode 7, ” Golf is Hard” – Sahith Theegala
  • Episode 8, “Everything Has Led to This” – Rory McIlroy, Cameron Young

Additionally, longtime PGA Tour pro and fan-favorite Rickie Fowler will be seen in numerous episodes throughout the series.

Full Swing creators: Who directed and produced the Netflix golf documentary?

One of the things that has golf fans and sports fans so amped for the documentary is the crew behind it. The popularity of Formula 1 spiked immensely after the release of Formula 1: Drive to Survive, the acclaimed documentary series following F1. It is the same team behind this new series as Full Swing was produced by Vox Media Studios and Box To Box Films.

From Vox, it will be Chad Mumm and Mark Olsen as executive producers. From Box to Box, James Gay-Rees and Paul Martin will serve as executive producers. Beyond that, Warren Smith is also an executive producer, a respected name who was an EP for the 30 for 30 documentary Four Days in October that chronicled the Boston Red Sox comeback in the 2004 ALCS.

Will Full Swing release on Netflix globally or just in the U.S.?

This is a great question with the international popularity of golf. But the good news is that the PGA Tour documentary is set to release around the entire world on Feb. 15. This is the case with almost every Netflix original, with the exception of a very rare few.

The trailer for the documentary dropped just more than a week before its release. You can check it out below.

If that doesn’t get you hyped — particularly with all of the teases, including the instantly-memed stare of Poulter into the camera when asked about joining LIV Golf — then I don’t know what will. This is going to be fantastic.
