Is Anthony Davis playing tonight? Latest injury update for Pelicans vs. Lakers
By Ian Levy
The Lakers have a crucial game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Will Anthony Davis be available to play his old team?
Despite a dramatic trade deadline, the Lakers are reeling. They’ve lost four of their last five, dropping to 26-32 and 13th in the Western Conference. As of this morning, FiveThirtyEight gives them just a 28 percent chance of making the playoffs. Their recent struggles make tonight’s game against the Pelicans extremely important.
The Pelicans are currently No. 7 in the Western Conference, at 30-28, four games ahead of the Lakers in the standings. They’ll be without Zion Williamson who is still expected to miss a few weeks even after the trade deadline recovering from a hamstring strain. But they still have the talent to give the Lakers fits, especially if L.A. isn’t fully healthy.
Will Anthony Davis be available to play against the New Orleans Pelicans?
Davis is currently listed as probable on the latest Lakers’ injury update, still working through pain in his right foot. LeBron James is also listed as questionable with left ankle soreness.
Davis has averaged 27.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in eight matchups against New Orleans since they traded him to the Lakers before the 2019-20 season.
Davis has found himself in the headline lately not just for his play, or for missing games. He had to answer questions for his lackluster reaction to LeBron breaking the all-time scoring record. And overnight, fans noticed that he had deleted his Instagram account. Getting back on the court and helping the Lakers. pick up a win could help him get the focus back on basketball.
