Today in NBA news — your 2023 dunk contest judges, Anthony Davis deactivates his Instagram account, and James Harden has a new agent.

Every day in the NBA is a busy news day. Here’s what you need to know for Feb. 15.

2023 NBA Dunk Contest judges

The NBA has announced the judges for this year’s dunk contest:

  • Jamal Crawford: 20-year NBA veteran was awarded NBA Sixth Man of the Year three times.
  • Lisa Leslie: Eight-time WNBA All-Star and three-time WNBA MVP was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015.
  • Karl Malone: 14-time NBA All-Star was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010.
  • Harold Miner: “Baby Jordan” won the dunk contest in 1993 and 1995.
  • Dominique Wilkins: “The Human Highlight Film” won the dunk contest in 1985 and 1990, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.

The 2023 dunk contest contestants are KJ Martin, Mac McClung, Trey Murphy III, and Jericho Sims.

Anthony Davis deactivated his Instagram account

Anthony Davis deactivated his Instagram account after the Lakers lost to the Blazers 127-115 Monday night. Maybe AD doesn’t need any more reminders about the pitiful season the Lakers are going through. They are 26-32 and if the season ended today they wouldn’t make the playoffs. The Lakers even have a losing record at home this year. Or maybe AD just isn’t impressed with your Reels.

James Harden has a new agent

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that potential free agent James Harden has hired Troy Payne of Equity Basketball to represent him. Payne is Harden’s first full-time agent since 2017.

Harden, 33, signed a two-year, $68 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers last summer and can choose to opt out after the season. He is currently leading the NBA in assists per game at 10.8 and has shot the ball much better this season. His 38.8 3-point field goal percentage is his highest since the 2010-11 season when he shot 39 percent from deep.

Harden’s potential free agency will be one of the hottest topics this offseason. Will Harden go back to the Rockets or will Harden re-sign with the 76ers and Joel Embiid?
