Corbin Burnes trade destination: Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay already added to its rotation this offseason by signing Zach Eflin to a three-year, $40 million deal, helping boost the Rays into the top 10 of our most recent MLB rotation ranking. With the Rays already sitting at number 10 on our list, just imagine what Tampa Bay might have if they could add Burnes into the mix.

The Rays enter the season with the fifth-ranked farm system per Law, so there is talent there if the Rays would want to pull the trigger on a massive deal. Additionally, knowing the AL East is going to be a slugfest this season, would the Rays consider upping the ante on a potential postseason berth this season by acquiring Burnes, knowing it would be a longer play that could eventually result in the Rays having to fork out some big dollars to keep him?

That’s not something Tampa Bay is necessarily known for, but with efforts underway to find a stadium answer in the Tampa-St. Pete area and get people in the region excited about the Rays outside of late September and October, could Burnes help in that area as well?

Burnes could certainly be a fit with the Rays if the organization would be willing to not only part with young talent, but also commit to more money for the ace down the line.
