1. Trading Justin Fields in division to the Lions might hurt, but Detroit can make it worth it

Seeing the Chicago Bears trade the former No. 11 overall pick within the NFC North would be truly wild. However, the Detroit Lions are the one team in the division that are armed well enough to be able to sway the Bears to make such a trade involving Justin Fields.

After the Matthew Stafford and T.J. Hockenson trades, the Lions are armed with two first and two second-round picks in this year’s draft. Thus, like the Seahawks, they could send one of each in a deal to really weeten the trade for the Bears and still have the ability to address the holes on the roster. Here’s what the in-division package would potentially look like.

Perhaps the biggest question for the Lions is if they would want to do that. General manager Brad Holmes has made his affinity for Jared Goff quite clear and the former No. 1 pick almost led Detroit to a playoff berth this past season. Would they want to give up this draft capital and move on from Goff or just stay the course for now?

At least from my perspective, Fields is the option that offers more potential for the Lions moving forward. They have started constructing something really impressive in Detroit as of late and adding an upgrade at quarterback who opens up the offense more while being younger as well should be enticing.

And while the Bears would have to swallow the bitter pill of trading their quarterback in the division, the Lions could very much make it worth their while with the picks they have to offer.
