NFL Draft: 5 best quarterbacks available in 2023
By KC Proctor
1. Bryce Young, Alabama
By all conceivable metrics, Bryce Young is the guy. After assuming full-time starting duties for The Crimson Tide, Young has led the SEC in passing touchdowns (79) and is second in both passing yards (8,200) and completions (611). In other words, he has completely dominated the greatest competition that the NCAA has to offer, and has done it in style. His mobility and arm strength are a rare combination that perfectly fits the mold of today’s NFL.
Young was unable to bring a national championship to Alabama, but he did live up to his 5-star recruitment by winning the Heisman Trophy in 2021 — a season in which he threw for over 4,800 yards, 47 touchdowns, and only 7 interceptions. His talent has never been questioned, and as we inch closer to the 2023 NFL draft, a number of teams are sure to have an interest in spending capital to move up the board for him.
The lone downside to Bryce Young as a prospect is his measurables. He has been unofficially listed as anywhere between 5-foot-9 and 6-foot tall. There will surely be doubts throughout the draft cycle if he measures in close to the low end at the combine, but it is unlikely that he slips down the board too far because of it. It is safe to assume that three quarterbacks will be off the NFL Draft board in the top six picks this year, and as of now, all signs point to Bryce Young being the first of them.
