The Packers are reportedly ready to put all their eggs in Jordan Love’s basket. What they should do instead is go after one of these quarterbacks.

The Jordan Love era in Green Bay looks like it’s going to launch in 2023, for better or worse.

In an appearance on the Go Long Pod, longtime Packers insider Bob McGinn told Tyler Dunne that the Packers are “disgusted with” Aaron Rodgers and ready to move on.

Not only that, he made some big claims about the level of confidence the powers that be in Green Bay have about Jordan Love. They believe he’s on track to be “Rodgers 2.0.”

Perhaps they’re right. But the evidence at the moment doesn’t point in that direction. Love didn’t look like a generational prospect coming out of college and he hasn’t done anything on an NFL field to change that perception. The Packers are hinging their future on one quarter of strong play from Love against the Eagles.

There are better alternatives out there if Green Bay was bold enough to try them.

Geno Smith

All indications are that Geno Smith and the Seahawks want the quarterback back in Seattle after a surprisingly strong season in 2022.

Almost a decade into his NFL career, spent mostly as a backup, Smith proved that some quarterbacks just need time and an opportunity to reach their full potential. He did that with 4,282 yards and 30 touchdowns in by far his strongest season.

The only thing stopping the Seahawks from bringing Smith back would be an unwillingness to give him what he wants in terms of a new contract. A team like the Packers could swoop in and give Smith a better offer to entice him away.
